How it works
Step 1
Gloria receives a referral from a trusted organizational partner like Planned Parenthood or Colorado Doula Project, among others.
Step 2
Gloria communicates with patient and sidekicks to figure out the details of how the stay will work. We remain in close contact with the patient leading up to their stay. Gloria provides patient general overview of lodging including photos.
Step 3
The day prior to patient’s appointment, Gloria starts group thread with patient and sidekick. Gloria provides the lodging address, host first name and contact number, arrival information, and link to lodging handbook.
All our sidekicks complete a vetting process that includes a background check, social media review, and interview. We also provide them training on how to be a kickass sidekick (what we call volunteers).

Comfortable Atmosphere: Staying in a home provides a cozier and more intimate environment, which can contribute to a sense of comfort and well-being for patients. Unlike a sterile hotel room, sidekicks take pride in making their spaces warm and welcoming.
No Questions Asked: Gloria Sidekicks “just get it”. You’ll never need to explain to them why you are here or what your circumstances are. They are nonjudgmental and they respect patients’ privacy.
Flexible check-in and check-out times: Sidekicks can often offer more flexibility with arrival and departure times than a hotel might, accommodating the specific needs and schedules of patients with challenging travel circumstances.
Local Insights and Guidance: Volunteer hosts can provide valuable local insights, helping patients navigate the area, find transportation, and locate essential services. Such information is provided in all guest guidebooks.
Extended Support System: Sidekicks are caring individuals who are invested in the patient’s well-being. Even if the patient and sidekick never meet, there is comfort knowing someone is there to help with no explanation needed.
